Fretting…

That’s my new word.  I’m fretting.  Not scared, not anxious.  Fretting.  See, I’m in constant pain.  By constant I mean 25 out of 30 days I’m in pain.  Some days are worse than others.  I went to see my doctor.  He said that there is a “procedure” that he is going to do that should help my pain.  Ok.

Here is my dilemma.  Should is not that comforting.  He says that this “procedure” will help me in many ways.  However, it isn’t a sure thing.  I’m actually concerned that it will cause me more pain.  It’s a possibility after all.

I guess I just wanted to put out there that I’m worried about this and that I don’t know what to do.  I just want to be pain free and I would do almost anything for that.  I’m fretting about this a lot.  A LOT.  I’ve had two similar things done to me and they didn’t go as smoothly as they should have.  This is where all of the apprehension comes from.  Scary, bad things that can happen.

It’s happening on Monday.  Eek.  Expect the next post to be more chipper.

Baking for Haiti!

Today is the day to bid on the brownies that I plan on baking for Haiti.  I’m really excited to participate in this because it is for a great cause.  Please stop over to bid on any of the items that you think look good.

By the way, the brownies are super rich, chocolately, dense, and delicious.  I can make them with nuts or without.  Whatever your preference.  If you like chocolate you will love these.

Go Here

Even if you don’t bid on my item you should still stop in and take a look at the wonderful items that are there to get.  If you have any questions you can email me at imdonedieting at gmail dot com.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Happy Birthday To Me…Anthro Love!

For about 3 months or so I’ve been reading the beautiful Anthroholic blog, but I never bought anything at Anthropologie until my birthday.  This wonderful blogger is an inspiration and I’m so glad that I found the blog.  It helps me to live outside of the boring day to day box.  Anywho, I think you may remember this and this.  Well, I went Anthro wild.  This is what I ended up getting when I went to the ONLY store in San Antonio, TX.

I’ll post pics later.  I’m a happy girl.  Seeing all of the different ways that these clothes can be worn has really inspired me to live outside of the box.  I always make a mini resolution for my birthday.  This year’s is to dress better.  I’m so excited.  I love all of these clothes.   I’ll post pics when I wear them.

MIA

I’m sorry I have been so out of touch for the past few days. I’ve been busy and haven’t had a minute. I promise tomorrow I will have a real post for everyone. My birthday was great by the way.

She’s heeeeeeeeeeere!

She’s here.  She arrived this morning at 3 am.  I’m so happy even if it wasn’t my birthday!  She’s beautiful.  It makes me want a baby.  Really badly.  Oh well, that isn’t going to happen.  There’s just something about holding a newborn baby that melts my heart.  I plan on spoiling her.  Lots.  She was so little.  She weighed the same as my son when he was born.  When Bean saw her, he said “I love it.”  He still has to work on the her and him thing.  It was still sweet.

Everyone say hi!

And here is my shirt…

I love Anthro.

OMG! Food? On A Food Blog?

I know it’s been a while since I posted any pictures of food.  I just haven’t been making anything that has been picture-worthy.

Here goes what survived the delete button:

Penne with Wild Mushrooms, Spinach and Shrimp.  This was amazing.  It was lightly dressed with some of the starchy pasta water, a little chicken stock and time to reduce down.  It turned out great.  The mushrooms were shitake, oyster, cremini, and portabellas.

For my baking mission I made a Tres Leches.  It was a recipe handed down from my grandmother, to my mother, to me.  This cake holds the milks inside of it and doesn’t run all over the plate.  It was a big hit and I will absolutely be making it again.

A while back I posted about hectic days.  I took a picture today of what I purchased for this week to make my salads.  This is just an example of items that I will use over the week to make lunches for myself.  I will probably only bring some kind of protein from home.

I have Baby Spinach, 2% Colby Jack Cheese, Broccoli Slaw, Tortilla Strips, BacOs (crack!), Lite Caesar dressing and Morning Star California Burgers (avocado and tomato inside).  I like the broccoli slaw option because it just lets me put extra veggies on my salad without having to chop.  The tortilla strips added just a bit of crunch.  This was a great salad.

  • Spinach
  • Broccoli Slaw
  • A pinch of cheese
  • A small handful of tortilla strips
  • One Morning Star Pattie
  • BacOs

Really, really good.  Loved it.  I live by the idea that the more stuff I put on a salad, the less tempted I am to cover it in salad dressing.  So far, it’s worked for me.

I’m planning on wearing my new Anthro shirt tomorrow.  Yay.  Expect pictures.

So far, for my AB (Alton Brown) Project:

Seared Ribeye

Cognac Sauce

Mashers

There are 140 recipes in my book.  That leaves me 137 to make in the next 49 weeks or so.

I Love Anderson Cooper!

I love Anderson Cooper.  He has beautiful eyes.  However, even if he was the ugliest man on the face of the planet, I would think he was amazing after seeing what he did in Haiti.  He carried a bleeding boy who had been struck on the head with a rock during a “riot” away from danger.  Why?  Because he was there.  All political aspects aside, whether you like him or not, he did an amazing thing.  He has my respect.  CNN is lucky to have an anchor like this.

Lucky Me…

I wasn’t planning on posting tonight.  However, when I got home guess what I saw?  My wonderful, amazing, fabulous husband had painted my kitchen.  He said it was for my birthday.  I love it!  The color is exactly what I wanted.

He didn’t want me to take this picture because he said he didn’t look good.  He looks great to me.  He is also tall.

Birthday Week

So, it’s my birthday week. I’m a child when it comes to this. I have always made a huge deal about my birthday. It isn’t that I was spoiled as a kid. I’m an only child, so I guess the ‘rents just made it a big deal. I never outgrew that. I’m the same way when other people have birthdays, too. I love to celebrate. I throw parties and take them out to eat. Buy presents and stuff. You know, all that birthday jazz.

So, kicking off my birthday week this year… Laryngitis. That is more of a birthday present for the hubby and the boss, but that’s how it started off. However, I did get a few gifts early this year.

My son got me some wooden salad servers. They are pretty cool. I’m so happy with them. Apparently, they were picked out by him. He’ll be 4 in May so this is a pretty big deal. He knows I like to cook, and he knows that I wanted them. I may have mentioned them to hubby a couple of times.

Anthropologie got some of my mom’s money. And some of mine, too. I’ll post pics of me wearing my scores later on.

My dad is going to take me out for dinner one day this week. However, he did say that I needed to give him 34 good reasons why. Hehe. Now everyone knows how young I am.

I’m taking Friday off to celebrate the right way. I can’t remember the last time my birthday was on a Friday. It’s my favorite day of the week so there is no way I would come to work. I already asked for it off. My boss, who loves to tease me, said that I had a birthday last month and now another one. He’s joking, but it’s his thing. And then he gave me this…

My best friend is having a baby this week sometime.  I just know it ;) .  Hehe, sorry Momma.  It’s going to be my birthday present from her.  Little Miss is going to have to hold out until Friday to make her entrance.  This adoptive aunt is planning on spoiling her rotten anyway, but that’s beside the point.  Here is a pic of my son and her son.  My son is the taller of the two.  They are one month and 2 days apart.  Both almost holiday babies.  Mine = Memorial Day (born the day after).  Hers = Independence Day (born the day before).

I Love to Bake, I Love to Help

I will be participating in this auction sponsored by The Chic Life.  I love to bake and I love to help.  If I could go to Haiti I would.  I figure though that I would probably be more in the way than I should be.  However, this I can do.  I’ll be making a huge batch of brownies!  Huge!  Hopefully, everyone that can participate, will participate.  I hope that this is enormously successful!
