Food and an outfit…

by Lu on February 3, 2010

The other day we got to have a free lunch for some work that was done.  It was quite tasty.  I had a small serving of green garlic mashed potatoes, some beef tenderloin in a raspberry chipotle sauce and the best salad ever.  The salad had mixed greens, avocado, tomatoes, pumpkin seeds and the most delicious ranch-y dressing ever.  I’m sure it was high low fat.  All in all it was well-received and deserved.

Lately for breakfast I have been craving the Protein Plate from Starbucks.  Frankly, I’m not willing to spend $5 bucks on breakfast so I compromised.  I put together a mini bagel, a hard boiled egg, an individual serving of cheese, a banana and in the small container is some PB2.  I wasn’t sure about the PB2 until I finally tried it.  I caved the other day and got it and I don’t regret it.  This is a great guilt free substitute for the real stuff.  All in all the calories were less than the Starbucks version and the price was soooooo much better.  I did however feel like I wasn’t going to make it through the day without coffee so I picked up a Venti Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte.  Worth the cost.

This lunch was phenomenal.  Mom, Bean and I went out to eat over the weekend and stopped in for Mexican.  Here we have a roasted veggie taco with queso fresco, borracho beans, yuca fries, salad and in the back a fish taco.  Yummy!  The fish tacos from this place have been rated #1 for years.  If you’re ever in San Antonio, TX, you have to stop into Beto’s.  I haven’t found anything there I didn’t like.  Everything is so fresh and wonderful.  Make sure you ask for their chimichurri and order the hibiscus tea to drink.

For my birthday lunch I got invited to a great Mediterranean place in town.  It’s called Pasha.  I love the food there.  I always get the vegetarian plate because it is more of a sampler platter.  I got the baba ghannouj, pasha potatoes (garlicky potatoes with parsley), shirazi salad (tomatoes, cucumber and onion), dolmas and tabbouleh.  I loved most everything, but the tabbouleh was way too parsley heavy.  I probably won’t get it again.  The rest was, well…Heaven!

The weather here in this desert hasn’t been very dry lately.  Lots of rain, lots of yuck.  I needed a boost of spring so I wore a yellow shirt.  I really like this shirt.  Love the ruffles.  With a cardigan over it I felt just dressed up enough to pass as an adult, but informal enough to feel comfortable about taking my shoes off under the desk.  I know that you can’t see the shoes in this picture but I swear they’re on!  Ignore the Tampon box.

That’s all I have for today.  I plan on posting tonight about a new goal I have.  Stay with me blogworld, I promise to keep it interesting!

  1. Love the shirt! Super cute!

  2. I can’t wait for spring! This morning I woke up a little too early and the room was cold. I squeezed my eyes shut and convinced myself I was in California, not Indiana; it was just a little chilly because the sun hadn’t come out yet, but in an hour I would be swimming some leisurely laps in the bright sunshine…it was a nice fantasy while it lasted :(

  3. mmm i love bright pops of color! makes life a little better, doesn’t it?
